Nicki Minaj reveals that filming sex scenes with Lil Wayne was “weird.”
The star admits shooting the steamy music video for High School felt strange as she views the rapper as more of a “brother.”
The video sees Nicki play a drug lord’s girlfriend who attempts to steal Lil Wayne’s character’s valuable jewels. Before the heist unfurls, Nicki and Wayne get intimate on camera.
Nicki, who is signed to the rapper’s record label Young Money, was uncomfortable throughout the shoot.
"Not only is he my boss, but he's also like my brother," Nicki told MTV News. "It's very weird because I'm just used to Wayne making fun of me, so every time they yelled 'Cut!' I was just being picked on. It was completely them being bullies to me!”
The long-term friends embarked on a love scene in the video in which the pair came close to sharing a passionate kiss.
However, Nicki insists Wayne was chivalrous when it came to respecting her boundaries.
“If I didn't tell him 'Yes you can do this' or 'touch this,' he refused to do it like he's a southern gentlemen, which people don't realise,” she said.
"He’s so respectful, he refused to touch me, and then I was like, 'Wayne, you could do this.' But he was acting scared, like, 'Yo, Nick, this is my dream. I'm gonna be a man after this video.' He was just being crazy.”
The video sees both musicians get down to various states of undress, with Nicki strutting around in a bikini and Wayne showing off his copious tattoos in swimming shorts.
And Nicki was certainly appreciative of her toned co-star.
“Wayne is still so sexy and so I texted Wayne and I was like, you're going to have all the chicks back on you, know what I'm saying?” she laughed. “Because when this video comes out, he looks like art, he looks like a piece of art all tatted up, all sexy, black and beautiful."
