Katy Perry is reportedly open to the idea of rekindling her romance with John Mayer.

The couple dated on-and-off since last summer, with their relationship ending earlier this month. There has been speculation that renowned womaniser John's wandering eye caused the break-up, with Katy apparently taking time to revaluate things at the moment.

"There's no question that Katy wants to settle down, but right now, she's not ready to fling herself into another relationship," an insider told Heat magazine. "If anything, she'd be open to reconciling with John if he can get his act together."

John was apparently worried about how fast his relationship with Katy was going. He had met her parents and there were even reports the couple were planning to get engaged.

However, Katy has reportedly been left feeling that her ex-boyfriend "emotionally bailed" on her. Those close to her are now fearful she got into the relationship too soon after her divorce from Russell Brand.

"Katy's friends feel her expectations may have been too high, and are now wondering if it was all a rebound after Russell," the source said.

Katy and Russell parted ways after a 14-month marriage and she has never spoken about what caused the split.

Last week, the British comedian poked fun at the union while presenting a radio show in aid of charity.

"That marriage was shaky from the get-go, before I'd even got off the elephant," he laughed, while discussing how he made his entrance at their wedding in India.

"It was a drag, man. Let me tell you a thing about marriage. Marriage is a bond that can last up to 14 months. It is a sacred 14-month arrangement. Begins on an elephant, ends in a newspaper."
