Justin Bieber and Rihanna are locked in a battle to become the most viewed person on YouTube.
Rihanna snatched the title from Bieber just three weeks ago but her success was short-lived as the ‘Baby’ singer has now regained his YouTube crown, according to Starcount’s social media tracker.
With over 3.5 billion views on his main channel (JustinBieberVEVO) Bieber passed Rihanna’s 3.4 billion views
(RihannaVEVO) over the weekend.
It was Lady Gaga who first reached 1 billion views in October 2010, but the Beliebers pushed Bieber to the top shortly after - in November 2010 - and helped the Canadian star become first to 2 billion and 3 billion view milestones on YouTube. Gaga has now slipped into fourth place behind Eminem in the ranking of top artists on YouTube.
However, the Beliebers cannot yet relax, as Rihanna is in hot pursuit - gaining 6 million YouTube views, compared to Bieber’s 4 million over the last day. The Canadian teenager will also be looking over his shoulder at PSY - whose 'Gangnam Style' is the most popular individual YouTube video in history with 1.4 billion views, and whose channel now has 2 billion views in total.
