Rod Stewart has dismissed reports his wife will appear on hit US reality show Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
The 68-year-old rocker’s spouse Penny Lancaster was reportedly being courted by bosses at Bravo network to appear on the drama-filled show.
Penny was rumoured to be in talks to replace Camille Grammer, the ex-wife of actor Kelsey.
Rod was stopped at Los Angeles International Airport this week and asked about the ongoing negotiations. But he said his wife has no interest in being a reality star.
A video released by TMZ on Friday shows Rod shutting down the rumours.
“She doesn't want to do that sort of thing,” he said, adding, “She's just happy being a mum."
Rod and Penny married in 2007 after eight years of dating.
That same year she appeared on BBC's Strictly Come Dancing.
The couple share two boys, seven-year-old Alastair and two-year-old Aiden.
Rod has six other children from previous relationships.
Penny, 41, has spoken in the past about her desire to “inspire” other women, an aspiration that would be at odds with an appearance on a catty show like Real Housewives.
Her idea to uplift other women is one of the reasons the former model spoke out about her battle to fall pregnant with her second child back in 2010.
Penny turned to in vitro fertilisation (IVF) to have Aiden. It took three rounds of treatment for her to become pregnant and now she’s reconciled to be the most dedicated mother possible.
“It’s the emotional, the physical all the injections and hormones you have to take it’s a long and hard journey,” she said at the time. “I thought by speaking about it I could hopefully give other women some hope and inspiration to keep trying because here are other avenues.”
