A new awareness campaign and exclusive charity album ft. The Strokes, The Libertines & Reverend and the Makers to raise awareness of suicide prevention charity, CALM.
Xpress, the brain-child of Ben Tallon and Manchester based Quenched Music, is a creative cross platform project to raise awareness of male suicide prevention charity CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably) and to encourage men to express themselves through the creative arts. CALM (Registered Charity 1110621) was established in 1997, with help from industry legend Tony Wilson, to tackle the issue of male suicide, currently the single biggest killer of men under 35 in the UK.
Xpress highlights the emotional benefits of artistic expression and has attracted support from a wide range of experts in the fields of music, art, comedy and journalism including Steve Merchant, John Robb and Danny Dyer. On May 3rd 2013, Manchester's Quenched Music, a music support company supporting local and international musicians with Radio airplay, gigs, visual communication and reviews will release a crowd-funded album, available on CD and Digital download.
Quenched Music have announced a one off charity gig at Fac 251 on 9th March 2013, £4 entry and doors at 8pm, headlined by The Cold One Hundred. They are supported by The Joint and The Rimes.
Xpress are delighted to announce that The Strokes, The Libertines and Reverend and The Makers have donated tracks to the album as well as supporting a showcase of the best new musicians in the UK and beyond including The Rimes, Black Lights, Naymedici and The Hyena Kill. All profits from the album will be donated to CALM.
