Nick Carter has proposed to his longtime girlfriend.
The Backstreet Boys singer is engaged to fitness expert and actress Lauren Kitt.
Nick confirmed the happy news on Friday.
He admitted the process of popping the question was a little nerve-wracking.
“I had the ring in my pocket for two weeks,” he told People.com.
“I was like, ‘I don’t want it anymore!’ It was driving me insane. I just wanted to get it out of my hands and on to hers,” he laughed.
The 33-year-old singer took Lauren, 29, to the Florida Keys last week for the special occasion.
He planned to ask for her hand on a romantic boat ride.
But the romance wasn’t quite what he had hoped for after he discovered his old boat needed some major maintenance.
"My boat was in such bad condition because I hadn't used it for, like, six years. It took me five days literally on my hands and knees, scraping up my body [to fix it],” he explained.
The couple decided to risk it and go out on a cruise anyway even though the engine wasn’t completely finished.
They stalled a few times but eventually arrived to a small island he loved as a child.
Close friends and family also joined them on the piece of land the couple now calls “Engagement Island”.
Lauren has been dating the Backstreet Boy for four years.
She admitted being presented with a seven-carat diamond ring was a huge surprise.
"I wasn't expecting it. It just felt very surreal,” she said, adding that the couple is on “cloud nine”.
Before they can start planning the wedding the couple have to sort out Nick’s schedule with the Backstreet Boys.
The band is working on a new album and planning a fan cruise in October to celebrate their 20th anniversary.
