Kate Hudson let her hair down and danced on the sofas at the BRIT Awards after-party last night.

The pretty blonde is engaged to Muse rocker Matt Bellamy, whose band missed out on two prizes at the ceremony yesterday evening. However, Matt and his bandmates still left their mark on the show, opening the event with a spectacular performance of their song Supremacy, backed by a 60-piece string section.

Kate joined in with the festivities after the BRITs at The Savoy hotel in London, where she showed off her dancing skills on a plush blue sofa.

According to British newspaper the Daily Mail, she showed her rebellious side even further by lighting up a cigarette inside the posh venue.

“Kate looked stunning but she was clearly dying for a smoke,” a source told the publication.

“Partygoers were stunned to see her lighting up inside The Savoy, which is a pretty ritzy institution, but no one tried to stop her.”

Over at the Soho House party, Taylor Swift showed off her skills as DJ on the decks, alongside BRIT Awards host James Corden.

The country singer dressed in a slinky black frock and put on some headphones as she picked the tunes for the night.

The star was later seen chatting to Carey Mulligan and enjoying a dance with Frank Ocean, and didn’t appear too upset about missing out on the best international female gong to Lana Del Rey.

Joining Taylor at the bash was Emeli Sandé who was the big winner of the night, taking home awards for best British female as well as best album.

“I'm So Happy,” she posted on Twitter, adding: “If I don't party tonight...then ill never party #BritAwards2013 (sic).”

Rita Ora slipped into a sparkling number for the bash, and seemed to have a great time despite missing out on the best British breakthrough act prize to UK crooner Ben Howard.

The singer took pictures of herself at the bar with Ellie Goulding and Calvin Harris.

“Goodnight world, tonight was amazing thank you for even nominating me....#maybenexttime :) (sic),” she optimistically wrote on Twitter.
