Britney Spears’s publicist has insisted the star did sing on will.i.am single Scream & Shout despite rumours to the contrary.

Rapper Eve cast doubt that the pop star had recorded her voice on the song by recently saying on a talk show: “I heard that it might not be Britney.”

But Britney’s publicist Jeff Raymond has vehemently denied the claims.

"It's absolute BS,” he tells TMZ.

“Britney sang the song. Will.i.am wanted her for this song and she sang on it."

Eve made the controversial comments during an appearance on Bravo show Watch What Happens Live when host Andy Cohen asked her what she thought of the song.

"I heard that might not be Britney," Eve said.

"That's what I heard, but you know I don't know, it could be Britney. But I heard it wasn't."

Scream & Shout, described as a “dark club track” will feature on the Black Eyed Peas star’s new solo album #willpower.

A source from the studio where Britney and will.i.am put down the track also refuted Eve’s claims.

"She's clearly jealous,” the insider told TMZ. “I didn't even know she still sings.”

Britney recently announced she was quitting the US X Factor to concentrate on her music career.

And the star was clearly thrilled to be working with top-notch producer will.i.am.

“He’s just, like, a little radical genius scientist in the studio when he’s in there, and he just knows what he’s doing, so just to be able to do a song with him is really fun,” she told Entertainment Weekly last year.
