Paul Rudd says the biggest lesson Hollywood has taught him is to not be a "douche bag".
The comedy actor is known for his roles in Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Knocked Up and Forgetting Sarah Marshall.
Paul has met many arrogant showbiz types along the way, and he always refrains from being conceited himself.
"Don’t be a douche bag," he quipped in an interview with British newspaper The Metro. "It’s something I’ve always believed in but there are enough of them in this business and no one wants to be around them."
Paul loves being approached by fans as it makes him realise his films are being appreciated by movie lovers of all kinds.
The 43-year-old funnyman has revealed what films he gets recognised for the most.
"It varies, depending where and when. A year ago, I got recognised from I Love You Man a lot and in Europe many people still recognise me from Friends. And lately Clueless seems to be coming up a lot – maybe the kids who were into that film at the time are nostalgic about it," he mused.
"I’m just happy people recognise me at all so it doesn’t feel like I’m spitting in the wind."
Paul likes challenging himself as far as acting goes. After appearing in horror movie Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers, the star has changed up his choices, which he's proud of.
"Strangely enough, that’s not a regret," he said when asked if he wished he'd done more of the horror genre. "I have done plays which have been different. I’ve been creatively challenged in that way – it’s just been more in theatre than movies. I finished a play recently called Grace and the character was fervently religious, went crazy and ended up killing people and himself. It wasn’t a comedy. There weren’t any fart jokes. Although it would have been nice with a fart joke. I’m a fan of fart jokes."
