The Academy Awards show is starting to look more about music than movies. Shirley Bassey will sing her classic James Bond theme eGoldfingerf.

It has already been announced that Barbara Streisand will sing for the first time since the 70Œs and that there will be a salute to movie musicals. Now, a special presentation of the 50th anniversary of James Bond has also netted Shirley Bassey who will sing her iconic theme from Goldfinger.

Producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron said in a statement gWe are thrilled to welcome the legendary Dame Shirley Bassey to our Oscar show. Her association with film music is world renowned and we are proud that she will be making her first Oscar appearance on our telecast.h

Bassey actually recorded three of the Bond themes, a record for any performer, with Goldfinger (1964), Diamonds Are Forever (1971) and Moonraker (1979).

Itfs also known that Adele will perform Skyfall, which is nominated this year for Best Song From a Motion Picture.

Amazingly, Goldfinger was not nominated for that award. The winner that year was Chim Chim Cher-ee from Mary Poppins with the other nominees being Dear Heart, HushcHush Sweet Charlotte, My Kind of Town (from Robin and the Seven Hoods) and Where Love Has Gone. Skyfall is the fourth to receive a nomination, after Live and Let Die, Nobody Does it Better and For Your Eyes Only. None have won.
