Pink says her goal is “joy” rather than “beauty”.

The singer is known for her quirky image and edgy musical style.

Whereas she may not fit a conventional mould, Pink is happily married to motocross racer Carey Hart and together they have daughter Willow.

The 33-year-old says her family and her successful career are enough to keep her happy.

"Beautiful has never been my goal," she told Redbook magazine. "Joy is my goal – to feel healthy and strong and powerful and useful and engaged and intelligent and in love. It’s about joy. And there's such joy now."

The star’s 2002 song Don’t Let Me Get Me detailed the struggles she faced to fit into Hollywood.

Whereas she’s amassed an army of fans all over the world, Pink knew she would never lie back and rely on her beauty.

"A 'girl like me' is someone who doesn't rest on her looks, who has had people tell me from day one, 'You're never going to get magazine covers because you are not pretty enough.' I'm totally comfortable with that," she admitted.

"I know my strong points: I work hard, I have talent, I’m funny and I’m a good person."

In June 2011 the star and Carey welcomed Willow into the world.

Being a mother has helped Pink feel totally comfortable with herself.

"When do I feel beautiful? When I'm sitting on a mat and my daughter runs to me with complete joy," she smiled.

"[A nurse helped me the day after I gave birth.] We sat up and talked all night with my baby in my arms, and it was like my whole life made sense, for the first time, ever."
