k.d. lang, Geddy Lee and Paul Shaffer to guest on How I Met Your Mother

A long list of Canadian musicians, actors and sports figures will be guest starring on the February 4 edition of CBS's How I Met Your Mother.

While the promo doesn't come right out and say it, we're guessing that it somehow will be tied in with a video by Robin Sparkles, the fictitious teen pop star that was the alter-ego of character Robin (Cobie Smulders) in her younger life.

Musicians appearing on the episode will be Rush's Geddy Lee, k.d. lang, Paul Shaffer and former Barenaked Ladies member Steven Page. Others include Alan Thicke, James Van Der Beek, Jason Priestly, Alex Trebek and Luc Robitaille.

How I Met Your Mother is currently in its eighth season and has been renewed for a ninth. Previous musical guest stars have included Britney Spears, Nicole Scherzinger, Jennifer Lopez, Mandy Moore, Enrique Iglesias and Katy Perry.
