Baz Luhrmann has recruited Jay-Z to write the score for his next movie ‘The Great Gatsby’.

The news was confirmed by Jeymes Samuel of The Bullitts who tweeted, “Jay-Z and myself have been working tirelessly on the score for the upcoming #CLASSIC The Great Gatsby! It is too DOPE for words”.

‘The Great Gatsby’ was filmed in Sydney and stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, Carey Mulligan, Joel Edgerton, Isla Fisher and Jason Clarke.

Luhrmann’s most recent trailer for the movie features Filter’s version of The Turtles classic ‘Happy Together.

On the first trailer for the movie, released in May, 2012, Jack White was heard performing a cover of U2’s ‘Love Is Blindness’.

Adelaide Clemens, who plays Catherine in the movie, has also revealed that Prince and Lady Gaga will have new songs in the movie.

The Great Gatsby is based on the novel by F Scott Fitzgerald. The story takes place in New York in 1922. World War 1 veteran Nick Carraway rents a house next door to mysterious millionaire Jay Gatsby.

The original movie was a silent film made in 1926 starring Warner Baxter. The first talking movie was made in 1948 starring Alan Ladd. It was remade in 1974 with Robert Redford and a tele-movie was released in 2000. The new version starring Leonard DiCaprio will premiere worldwide in May.
