Lady Gaga has been replaced as the main act to ring in the New Year in Times Square with New York City’s mayor.
The Paparazzi singer last year gave a raucous performance of her hits Heavy Metal Lover, Marry the Night and Born This Way as the clock struck midnight.
She even planted a kiss on New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg before they pressed the button for the ball drop.
But the politician announced today the outlandish entertainer was being replaced in this year's line-up.
“Last year, we had Lady Gaga help us drop the ball,” he said during an interview on WOR Radio’s John Gambling Show. “This year, tada, tada, tada - the Rockettes.”
The famed New York City dance troupe will send 18 of its dancers to share the stage with the mayor, who said that Gaga “had to go off and do some other entertainment”.
He also credited the Rockettes with drawing significant tourism to New York City with their annual Christmas Spectacular.
But he’s not sure if they will help him to recreate his famous kiss with Gaga.
“We're going to have to figure out how to do that,” he laughed.
