Mediocre critics reviews and less than stellar sales be damned. Madonna did it best this year on the concert state.

The veteran singer, whose MDNA album did not live up to her legacy both critically and in sales, proved her ability to bring in a crowd of concertgoers by putting on the top tour of the year according to Billboard. The singer had 72 sellouts (out of 72 shows) and grossed $228,406,085.

Second for the year was Bruce Springsteen and the E-Street Band who had 54 sellouts out of 72 shows for a total gross of $199,371,791. Where Springsteen did set the pace was in total attendance, putting 2,165,925 people in the seats compared to Madonna's 1,635,176. A combination of lower ticket prices and larger venues led to the difference.

Roger Waters was third for the year followed by Michael Jackson: The Immortal World Tour by Cirque du Soleil and Coldplay.
