Sir Paul McCartney has revealed that he will “jam” with the surviving members of Nirvana Wednesday.
The Beatles musician is preparing to perform at the 12.12.12 Hurricane Sandy benefit concert at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
Paul, former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl, who is now a member of the Foo Fighters, and bassist Krist Novoselic, will grace the stage together.
This will be the first time Dave and Krist have played together in over 20 years following the death of Kurt Cobain.
Paul is elated about the historic event.
“[I phoned Dave and he invited me to come over and] jam with some mates,” Paul told British newspaper The Sun.
“I didn’t really know who they were. They are saying how good it is to be back together. I said ‘Whoa? You guys haven’t played together for all that time?
“And somebody whispered to me ‘That’s Nirvana. You’re Kurt.’ I couldn’t believe it.”
Paul, Dave and Krist will be sharing the stage with Jon Bon Jovi, Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel, Alicia Keys, Kanye West and The Rolling Stones.
