Ke$ha fears people have the "wrong impression" of her.

The 25-year-old popstar insists her seemingly reckless attitude and controversial appearance are part of her onstage persona.

Ke$ha now realises that it may be harder to shake off the public's original perception of her than she first thought.

"The thing about me and what I do is that I think some people initially got the wrong impression, that I was taking it really seriously... that it was somehow supposed to be a really serious thing. And it's just fun..." Ke$ha revealed to Wonderland magazine. "All I want to do is inspire other people to be themselves and have a f**k off good time. Honestly. And I don't really find anything negative in that."

The star is set to release a new album entitled Warrior later this year. She has high hopes for the record, which has been a lengthy piece of work to finish producing.

"Of course the goal is to reinvent pop music. That's the very lofty goal when anybody's making a new record. We shall see. It could come out and everyone thinks it's total garbage. I hope not because I've spent a year and poured my heart and soul into it," she said.

As well as attempting to change public perception of her with Warrior, Ke$ha has also had an image overhaul. The star was seen at last night's American Music Awards debuting a more demure look. Despite her insistence that the crazy wild child image is all an act, the star relaxes in an unusual way.

"Whenever I have a long work day, my reward is... I get to go to a strip club," she admitted. "I suppose I feel very at home in a place where people are just like... f**k it."
