Australian rock band TRACER won “Best New Band” at last night’s Classic Rock Roll of Honour Awards. Held at the London Roundhouse, lead singer and guitarist Michael Brown was flown in from Adelaide, Australia to accept the award on behalf of the band.

Tracer’s “Best New Band” win follows the news of their forthcoming April 2013 UK tour.

“I’m absolutely stoked about winning the Classic Rock Award for Best New Band,” says Brown. “It still blows my mind that we are creating and playing music we love and people are responding to it and we’re getting awards for it!”

Tracer start recording their second album with producer Kevin Shirley (Led Zeppelin, Iron Maiden, Slayer, Silverchair, Cold Chisel), at his studio in Malibu later this month. The album will be released by Mascot Records in March 2013, and will dovetail their UK tour in April.

Tracer’s 2013 UK Tour starts Tuesday 9 April. They play London Scala (April 9), Bristol Tunnels (April 10), York Fibbers (April 11), Sheffield Plug (April 12) and Glasgow o2 ABC (April 13).
