(Cover) - EN Movies - Jared Leto has joined the cast of The Dallas Buyer’s Club.
The rocker has signed on to join Matthew McConaughey and Jennifer Garner in the forthcoming drama.
The film, based on a true story, follows an AIDS victim (Matthew) who starts a drug ring to smuggle the medication he needs to prolong his life across the US border from Mexico.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jared will play “a flamboyant cross-dresser with HIV” who helps Matthew’s character.
Gael Garcia Bernal was originally tipped for the part.
Canadian director Jean-Marc Vallée is helming the movie.
It marks the first time in five years Jared has worked on a feature film.
The 30 Seconds To Mars frontman has been focused on his music career since 2009 fantasy drama Mr. Nobody.
A documentary about the band, entitled Artifact, won the People’s Choice Award earlier this year at the Toronto International Film Festival.
The Dallas Buyer’s Club is scheduled to begin filming next week in New Orleans.
