Steven Tyler says Aerosmith are like "modern-day sorcerers".

The rocker claims special things happen when the five members of the band get together.

Steven, who left his role as judge on American Idol after last season to return to his band mates, gushed about his musical skills on the Today show this morning.

"It's interesting how... the music just smacks life right in the face," Steven explained on the American breakfast TV programme. "When we get together and write, we're like modern-day sorcerers."

While Aerosmith's music seems to be going well at the moment, Steven put on a less convincing display of his own mental state.

The rock frontman managed to make two slip ups during the early morning broadcast.

Not only did Steven utter the F-word on live television, but he forgot which show he was on.

While the Today show host Al Roker was giving a weather update, Steven screamed in the background to the crowd, "Thanks for coming out, you crazy f**ks!"

Luckily Steven managed to pull it back together to give a sound performance with his band.

The five-piece have been together for over 40 years.

Their new record Music From Another Dimension! will be their 15th album release to date.
