Ben Harper makes Stax debut with Charlie Musselwhite

Ben Harper’s 12th studio album will be on Stax Records and with Charlie Musselwhite.

The legendary Stax label is the home of the original recordings of Booker T. & The MG’s, Isaac Hayes and Otis Redding.

Harper and the harmonica master Musselwhite have recorded ‘Get Up!’. It will be Ben’s first album since ‘Give Till It’s Gone’ from 2011.

The collaboration has been a long time coming. “Charlie and I have been looking to make this record for over ten years and now that we’ve gotten to it,” stated Harper, “I can’t wait to play it live.”

Ben and I really locked in, personally and musically, when we recorded with John Lee Hooker,” added Musselwhite. “Ever since then we wanted to record together and being in the studio together is just a natural. You can hear it and feel it in the music on Get Up!”

‘Get Up!’ will be released in January, 2013.
