Nicole Kidman is looking forward to supporting her husband Keith Urban on American Idol.

Country singer Keith has been unveiled as a new judge on the TV talent show, alongside Nicki Minaj, Mariah Carey and Randy Jackson.

Nicole has confirmed she will be backing her spouse all the way.

“Yeah! Next year I'll be there,” she said on the red carpet at last night’s Emmy Awards.

Keith and Nicole both attended the event and the musician spoke of his excitement about his new role. He was chatting to E!’s Ryan Seacrest, who presents the singing contest.

“I'm very glad you're there. I'm glad Randy's there. It's a good comfort level!" he laughed.

Nicole would love to head to the show earlier, but her schedule means that is impossible. The 45-year-old will be abroad for much of the next few months.

“This year I'm in France. I'm playing Grace Kelly, actually,” she explained.

The star is portraying the late Hollywood star in Grace of Monaco, which is about her romance with Monaco's Prince Rainier III. Nicole can’t wait to get stuck in to the role, although it has already caused some problems. She joked she was having to be careful in the Los Angeles sun as she can’t have a tan for the role.
