Last week, it was revealed that Eddie Van Halen had undergone emergency surgery for diverticulitis but the extent of that hospitalization and the results of surgery were not revealed.

The Van Halen News Desk is reporting that, while the surgery went well, Eddie popped a couple of the stitches from the incision leading to an infection in the surviving intestinal tissue. The additional problem caused him to stay in the hospital for a total of three weeks.

Van Halen is now home and recovering, but that will take four to six months, so all further tours in support of A Different Kind of Truth are off for now.

Eddie did take to his Facebook account on Friday to assure fans that all was well. "Thank you for all of your cool comments! Hanging out, taking it easy and following the doctors orders."
