Bret Michaels calls off engagement

Bret Michaels has called off his engagement with long time girlfriend Kristi Gibson.

The pair were together for over 16 years when the rocker finally proposed on December 2 2010 with all the action captured by reality show cameras for their show Bret Michaels: Life As I Know It.

But the Poison frontman’s rep has released a statement saying the former lovers are no longer heading up the aisle.

“Although the couple have separated they remain great friends and are committed to jointly raising their two daughters,” the spokesperson said.

Bret, 49, and Kristi, 41, are parents to Raine Elizabeth, 12, and Jorja Bleu, seven.

The couple has had many highs and lows in their relationship including Bret’s emergency appendectomy, his stroke and when he suffered from a near-fatal brain hemorrhage.

The Every Rose Has Its Thorn singer told Us in the past that Kristi was “the one who put up with me all these years.”
