Stevie Nicks has confirmed Fleetwood Mac will reunite next year.

The singer said that the hugely successful band will get together for a tour in 2013.

The musician appeared on US TV show CBS This Morning yesterday and backed up hints made by fellow band member Lindsey Buckingham in 2011.

“It's the plan. Because that's what we do. I do my thing, and Lindsey [Buckingham's] out doing his thing,” she told CBS.

Arguably one of the world’s most successful band’s, Fleetwood Mac’s history has been marked by professional highs and devastating lows as their interpersonal relationships and break-ups threatened to destroy the band.

But despite several fall-outs and successful solo work, the members have managed to keep the group together.

Fleetwood Mac last toured together in 2009.

Guitarist Buckingham previously told Rolling Stone magazine they may even record a new album together.

“With Fleetwood Mac, there's a lot of landmines out there politically and it's hard to get everybody on the same page at the same time – but I think this might be one of those years where everyone will want to do the same thing,” he said.

Fans have taken to Twitter to express their excitement about the reunion.

“fleetwood mac to reunite?? EPIC. [sic]” one wrote.
