Katy Perry finds it "completely hilarious" when TV talent show judges haven't been involved with music "for a decade".
The singer's name has been thrown into the mix to join hit TV shows American Idol and The X Factor in the past.
Katy wouldn't consider sitting on a judging panel at the moment as she has other projects she wants to accomplish first - but finds the calibre of selected judges shocking at times.
"People have reached out to me about the possibility of being involved and I think that it's not right for me right now. I have ideas for two or three big, creative things and I want to be able to fulfil those ideas. And it's a real commitment to be on one of those shows," she told The Hollywood Reporter.
"No, I'm not opposed to it. I think some of those shows are better than others. I like to give constructive criticism that hopefully people can apply and find valuable.
"But I do find it completely hilarious when they hire people that are not current in music and haven't been for a decade or over. Or when they’re not even in music. How are you going to give a perspective when you haven't even lived it?"
Katy is currently promoting her movie Katy Perry: Part of Me 3D. She's also been on the road promoting her album Teenage Dream for two years, but denies she is a "workaholic".
"I wouldn't call it an 'aholic.' I would just say that I am continually inspired," she said. "The faucet of creativity hasn't stopped. I can't just shut it off. And when it does stop, you'll see me on a break or something. But right now, I'm having a great time."
