One Direction's Harry Styles pretended he was gay in order to break off a relationship once.

The British boyband - also comprising of Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan and Liam Payne - have attracted a wealth of admirers since storming the charts with their debut album.

The stars have revealed how they'd break it to a girl they were seeing if they weren't interested anymore.

"You've got to be careful so you don't come across as arrogant. Say 'you don't want to ruin the friendship' or whatever. There's no point in leading someone on," Zayn told the British edition of OK! magazine, before Harry cheekily added: "I told someone I was gay once."

Niall also revealed his dating woes. The blonde haired singer says he has never cheated on a girlfriend, but was annoyed when he got blamed for doing so.

"I got accused of it once at a house party. Someone told her that I had got with another girl when I hadn't. It didn't go down too well," he said.
