Adam Levine admits that he’d never “been in a full-blown fight before”.
The Maroon 5 frontman premiered his band’s music video for One More Night on Monday.
Adam gets into proper boxing matches in scenes throughout. Although he was throwing hooks in the video, the singer confesses that he’d never really come to blows in real life.
“I had a little bit of training. I'll never forget. During the little bit of training, I got the guy who was training me. He hit me, and it hurt,” Adam told MTV News. “I've never really been in a full-blown fight before, but the guy hit me pretty hard. I'm a wimp, so it was worse [for me] than someone who's tough, but he hit me, and I was like, 'Oww, man!' ”
Adam thought the song, which is produced by Max Martin and Shellback, packed a lot of punch.
“It was one of those things that the instant we heard it as a group, we thought, 'Wow.' ” he recalled.
“I do love the lyrics. The metaphor that we spoke of earlier, a relationship between two people, sometimes when it's not going so well, it feels like a battle. Like a boxing match.”
