Benji and Joel Madden are releasing a new record together as The Madden Brothers.

The siblings have put work with their band Good Charlotte on hiatus for a year, as Joel has been a mentor on the Australian version of talent show The Voice.

Benji has taken to his Twitter page to talk about the forthcoming album, the follow-up to The Madden Brothers Mixtape in 2011.

“In the studio w/@joelmadden workin on music for this Madden Brothers record with 1 of my fav record makers of all times. Still dreaming man! (sic),” he wrote.

Benji’s comment has sent fans into a frenzy. Followers have expressed how thrilled they are about the brother’s forthcoming offering.

“@benjaminmadden @joelmadden this is too exciting, you guys! #GCFam's got your back! (sic),” one wrote.

“@benjaminmadden @joelmadden I am so so so excited for this album. Please tell me your beautiful voice will be singing a lot on it? (sic),” another said.

One fan asked what the difference was between Good Charlotte and the Madden Brothers. Benji says the Madden Brothers’ sound is less heavy on rock.

“@SwiftStump less production, more sparse, more about the lyric and the harmonies. A lot of acoustic too (sic),” he explained.

Joel has spoken of what to expect on the album. The brothers have been working on the record with Pharrell Williams in between Joel's commitments on The Voice.

"Benj and I have had a lot of fun this year, not only with him coming on as a mentor and working on The Voice with me in Australia but also writing and producing music together and also working on a Madden Brothers record while Good Charlotte takes some time off,” he told Australian newspaper the Herald Sun.

While they were in Australia they were collaborating with local talent including Jimmy Barnes, Shannon Noll and Reece Mastin.

The album is due for release later this year.
