Jordin Sparks felt Whitney Houston “all around” her when she performed a tribute to the late singer.

Jordin took to the stage last night in support of the fifth annual Capitol CAREaoke hosted by charity Childhelp. She belted out Whitney’s I Wanna Dance with Somebody at the Washington D.C. event which raises money for child abuse prevention and treatment.

“Just sang my heart out on 'I Wanna Dance with Somebody' at this event. I felt her all around me. Miss you Mama Whitney. <3 (sic),” she wrote on her Twitter page.

It’s not the first time Jordin has performed in Whitney’s honour. She made a tribute to the star at the 5th Annual Essence Black Women in Hollywood Luncheon in February.

The two stars appear alongside each other in the upcoming movie Sparkle, which Whitney shot shortly before her death. Jordin chose Look into Your Heart from the movie to perform at the luncheon.

She also spoke about how she is coming to terms with the loss of her idol.

“It comes in waves,” she said. “I'm definitely trying to process it a little bit.

“I'm really glad I got to work with her. It was a gift that I got to know her.”

Sparkle is a remake of a 1976 movie of the same name. It’s about three teenage sisters who form their own group and is due for release later this year.
