One Direction's debut US single "What Makes You Beautiful" has broken the 1 million sales mark in America.

Rising to No.4 in the Official Billboard Hot 100 chart, the track sold 294,320 this week, bringing the total single sales to date to 1,129,852.

'What Makes You Beautiful' has already been a monster worldwide smash hit reaching No.1 in the UK and Ireland, winning a BRIT award for 'Best British Single. The music video for the song has so far garnered over 97 million views.

Last month, One Direction made history when their debut album 'Up All Night' entered the US Billboard 200 chart at No.1, the first British group ever to debut at No.1 in the US with their debut album release. 'Up All Night' has so far made No.1 in a staggering 15 countries worldwide.

1D mania has truly hit the USA. Over 10,000 fans turned out for the band’s first live TV performance on NBC’s Today Show in Rockefeller Plaza, New York and record numbers of fans have turned out to see them at album signings. One Direction recently won two awards and performed at the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards, and appeared in an episode of iCarly on Nickelodeon. The band were also the musical guests on Saturday Night Live with guest host Sofia Vergara.

The band have recently just announced a tour of the US as part of their 2013 World Tour, having sold out both their US tour this summer and a special Madison Square Garden gig this coming December.
