It's been six years since the storied CBGB's closed its doors in New York after a multi-decade run as one of the great punk music clubs.
The club may be gone (it's a clothing store now) but the name will live on this summer with the CBGB Festival, set for July 4 to 8.

At least that's what the official CBGB site says. There is very little further information on the fledgling event other then what is shown at a linked Sonicbids page. They are shooting big, stating the "capacity" as 500,000 to 1,000,000 and they are looking for a wide variety of music, listing "Alternative, Americana, Avant-garde, Bluegrass, Blues, Classic Rock, Country, Folk, Funk, Goth, Jam Band, Jazz, Latin, Metal, Pop, Punk, Reggae, Rock, Singer/Songwriter, and World."

The following is the description listed on the page:

The CBGB Festival is a five day celebratory showcase of music, film, distilled spirits and learning. From The Bowery and the Lower East Side to the streets of Williamsburg, Brooklyn, join them as they turn it up as loud as it will go this year during the 4th of July holiday week.
