Jessie J offers “real gems of advice" to The Voice contestants, says her fellow judge.

The British songstress is a judge and mentor on the new TV talent show, alongside will.i.am, Tom Jones and The Script frontman Danny O’Donoghue.

Danny says Jessie has a great lot of advice to offer budding singers who audition for the series.

“I know people would love to think there’s rivalry and yes, when we feel strongly, you hear about it – but we all get on,” he explained to British magazine Closer.

“As soon as Jessie opens her mouth, real gems of advice come out. At 23, she may be young, but she has a lot to offer.”

Danny has joked about his status on the upcoming TV show. The singer says his credibility is somewhat scuppered alongside some of pop music’s biggest stars.

“There are three of the world’s most famous people on the panel – and then there’s me,” he joked.

“I’m the wild card, but I like it.”

Danny is glad his fellow mentors judge the contestants on their singing ability, and not their outward appearance. He believes The Voice will gain popularity because of its dedication to finding real vocal talent.

“I was looking for singers with strong, emotionally led voices. I love that The Voice isn’t about image,” he added. “The coaches judge people without going on looks.”
