The new Bruce Springsteen album Wrecking Ball has debuted at no. 1 in the UK.

Wrecking Ball topped the British Albums chart for March 17, 2012. The album almost didn’t make it, beating out In My Dreams by the Military Wives by just 18,000 copies.

It’s his third studio album that has topped the charts with Magic making it in 2007 and Working on a Dream in 2009.

It was also a good debut week for a couple of other veteran artists as Lionel Richie country duets album, Tuskegee starts at 7 and The Very Best of Gilbert O’Sullivan premiers at 12. Other debuts come from Sinead O’Connor, Bread, the Stranglers and Nina Simone.
