American rock band The Fray performed a live and exclusive intimate gig as part of Absolute Radio’s live sessions at the Hard Rock Cafe ahead of their third album release; Scars & Stories.

A select crowd of Fray super fans, competition winners, friends of the station and Hard Rock London VIP’s were treated to stunning stripped down renditions of hits from the new album including latest single Heartbeat as well as classics ‘Over My Head’ and ‘How to Save A Life’. As an encore lead singer Isaac Slade leapt off stage for an impromptu acoustic solo performance - much to the delight of the crowd.

Highlights from the gig will be played out on Absolute Radio on 8th March from 8pm. A video of the session will also be available to watch online at www.absoluteradio.co.uk

Absolute Radio presenter Polly James interviewed the guys backstage in the infamous Hard Rock Cafe London vault before the gig. The guys explain how they still keep in touch with heroes and touring buddies U2 taking on top advice from Bono to not take themselves too seriously. They interestingly revealed that when they quit music they’d love to bring out a range of Orthopaedic Fray tennis shoes, that they are big fans of Florence & The Machine, what movies make them cry, just how happy they are with the response to the new album and more. Top quotes and full transcript below.

The Fray’s new album ‘Scars & Stories’ will be released on Monday 5th March 2012.
