Whitney Houston’s family are reportedly divided over where to lay the late singer’s body to rest.

The iconic star was found dead in a fourth-floor hotel room in Beverly Hills on Saturday afternoon, with no immediate apparent cause of death. Whitney’s body was released by the Los Angeles coroner yesterday and her body has been flown back to New Jersey.

TMZ is reporting that Whitney’s family has become divided over the star’s funeral plans.

According to the website, Whitney’s cousin Dionne Warwick and mother Cissy Houston both want the burial to take place in Atlanta as they believe it is “the place Whitney enjoyed the most and had the fondest memories.”

However, the rest of the family want Whitney to be laid to rest in Newark, where the star was born.

Cissy is reportedly arguing that: "Michael Jackson did not want to be buried in New Jersey, and Whitney did not want to be buried in New Jersey."

However, TMZ claims that both Dionne and Cissy have been convinced by other family members that New Jersey is “where the world will remember her most”.

Meanwhile, Kelly Rowland has revealed it was a Whitney song that won her a place in Destiny’s Child. The star appeared on Access Hollywood Live to gush about her musical icon.

“It was I’m Your Baby Tonight. She’s opened up the doors for so many women and empowered us. When you meet her, when I met her, when we met her, she was just so embracing. It was our first year at the Grammys, we were like 17-years-old,” she revealed.

“You don’t get that in this music industry. She was so warm.”

La Toya Jackson has taken to her Twitter page to send her condolences to Whitney’s 18-year-old daughter Bobbi Kristina.

“Let's send Love & Light to #WhitneyHouston family!!! As well as strength to BobbiKristina!#Goodnight all!!! (sic)” she wrote.
