The performers for the 2012 New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival have started to be announced with the first batch including the Eagles, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, the Foo Fighters, John Mayer, the Zac Brown Band, Herbie Hancock, My Morning Jacket, Bonnie Raitt, Al Green, Jill Scott and Florence + the Machine.
The festival is scheduled for the two weekends between April 27 and May 6.
Kevin Poe of Connecticut was arrested on Tuesday and charged with attacking Gene Simmons' website. Poe is part of the Anonymous hacking group who overwhelmed the servers at Simmons' site last October for five days, making it tough to impossible for anyone to gain access. While it is not officially known why Simmons site was targeted; however, he is an outspoken critic of illegal downloaders.
Last Saturday night, Gibson held a special party for the guitar great Scotty Moore in Memphis to celebrate his 80th birthday. On hand was Elvis' ex-wife Priscilla who gave Moore a special replica of the Gibson ES-295 guitar he played during his career.&
A retired cameraman for the BBC has unearthed what was thought to be a long lost tape of David Bowie performing Jean Genie on a 1973 episode of Top of the Pops. The broadcaster regularly wiped video tapes of shows during that time period so it was thought that there was no footage; however, as John Henshall revealed, "They'd been looking for it for years, hoping that somebody had maybe pointed an 8mm home movie camera at the screen, because there was no VHS in those days. I just couldn't believe that I was the only one with it. I just thought you wouldn't be mad enough to wipe a tape like that."
First, the on-line gambling site OnlineGamblingPal.com purchased a lock of Michael Jackson's hair at auction for $10,871, but the story is taking an even more bizzare turn. They are planning on making the hair into a roulette ball. The main question is, why would an on-line site need a real roulette ball, anyway, but speculation is that they will sell it to a real-life casino for a hefty profit.
The Country Music Association (CMA) has donated $10 million to the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville to help in their $75 million expansion campaign.
