Michael Buble hopes that his music will inspire fans after he’s “long gone”.
The Canadian crooner recently released his fifth studio album, Christmas. Michael has explained why his most recent musical offering is the most important of his career to date.
“The first record that inspired me was Bing Crosby’s Christmas album, which played in our house every holiday season. It was my introduction to jazz and melody and to emotion connected to music,” He explained in an interview with Parade.
“I hope that one day when I’m long gone, some kid will be listening to my record the way I listened to Bing’s. God, that sounds morbid. I’m already planning my death!”
Michael covers Santa Baby on the album, which is often performed by female vocalists.
The 36-year-old singer thinks the song is just as relevant to male singers.
“Listen, I believe in Santa just as much as the next girl, so why can’t I sing the song?” he quipped. “I changed a bunch of the words and asked for my guy things - a Rolex, some nice Mercedes stuff.”
Michael loves being on the road and performing around the world.
He says his wife, Argentinean actress Luisana Lopilato, provides him with home comforts while he’s jet-setting around the globe.
“I’m trying to learn Spanish, so I have my Spanish for Dummies book. And my wife bought me this little stuffed pig that she thinks looks like me - and it does, which is weird - so I bring that for good luck,” he said.
“He’s always there when I walk into my dressing room, looking at me with these big, sad eyes.”
