Roger Taylor of Queen has shot down recent reports that the group will be releasing a new album using vocals by Freddie Mercury from the vaults. He told Ultimate Classic Rock:
I’ve got to tell you, there won’t be an album. There’s just not enough and the last thing I want to do is have a sort of barrel-scraping exercise. But there’s a couple of great tracks that Freddie recorded with Michael Jackson that Brian and I are working on and they are good. So at some point they will surface I think when we feel it’s a good moment. I don’t really want to ride any sort of wave there. So that’s an interesting thing, but that will be probably later some point next year.
Madonna has settled with a neighbor in her New York apartment building who said the singer made too much noise rehearsing in her unit. The settlement was not revealed, although Madonna said that she had built a studio in another location.
The Cure are back in the studio working with producer Bob Rock who previously helmed Sonic Temple, The Cult and Beyond Good and Evil.
Jackson Browne will be making an appearance on Thursday at the Occupy Wall Street protest in New York.
It looks like the Recording Academy lied when they tweeted about a "surprise" appearance by Van Halen or some other iconic group on the nominations concert Wednesday night. The original Tweet definitely mentioned two Van Halen songs but, now, the L.A. Times Pop and Hiss Blog is reporting that it was actually going to be the Beach Boys but negotiations for a reunion on the Grammy Awards show in February broke down 48 hours before the broadcast.
