The Original 7Ven, formerly known as the Time, will open the 2011 Soul Train Awards on Thursday, November 17 (airing on BET and Centric on Sunday, November 27). Comprised of the original members of the group, including Morris Day, Jimmy Jam, Terry Lewis, Jesse Johnson, Garry "Jellybean" Johnson, Jerome Benton and Monte Moir, the group were forced to change their name after Prince refused to relinquish rights to The Time.
Also appearing will be Natalie Cole, Jill Scott, Mindless Behavior, Robin Thicke, Lloyd, Miguel, Melanie Fiona, Keith Sweat, BeBe Winans, Joe, Lalah Hathaway and Kenny Latimore while the Legends Award will go to Gladys Knight and Earth, Wind and Fire.
Paul Rodgers recently told Billboard that he is open to more work with Queen, especially if they get involved with the London Olympics. "No one's actually approached me yet [but] would be open to something like that, I must say. (Queen + Paul Rodgers) did great. I think we did fantastically well. We were up against potential disaster, really, and I think we really pulled it off. Toured the world a couple of times. Made a brand new studio album (2008's The Cosmos Rock). I just didn't want to do it forever...But for something like (the Olympics), that would be ideal."

Mickey Golden, the founder of the Criterion Music Corporation, died Wednesday at his home in Encino, CA at the age of 99. His company published everything from Don Ho's Tiny Bubbles to Jackson Browne's Doctor My Eyes. Among later songwriters who published through his company were Lyle Lovett and Roseanne Cash.
Barry Weinstein, a photographer who shot some of rock's greatest artists including George Harrison and Bob Dylan, passed away on Thursday in upstate New York at the age of 80.
