Wyclef Jean and Debbie Gibson surprised onlookers with an impromptu jam session in a New York cafe.

Debbie is currently filming for the fifth season of The Celebrity Apprentice, which will air in early 2012.

The singer-songwriter was selling sandwiches at New York eatery Cafe Metro on Tuesday afternoon, when Wyclef pulled her aside for an impromptu jam session.

The Haitian musician-and-record producer and Debbie enjoyed performing in the cafe, amidst other contestants for the NBC reality show.

Debbie was in the middle of a challenge and had been working with cast mates Patricia Velasquez, Teresa Giudice, Dayana Mendoza, and Lisa Lampanelli when they were interrupted.

Next season’s cast also includes Dee Snider, Clay Aiken, Marco Andretti and Arsenio Hall.

Wyclef is not a contestant on the reality show but is lending a helping hand with their charity efforts.

The 42-year star is famed for his humanitarian efforts.

In 2005 he established the Yéle Haiti Foundation. In its first year of operation the scheme provided scholarships to 3,600 children in Gonaïves, Haiti, after the devastation caused by Hurricane Jeanne.
