Mandy Moore is set to star in a TV comedy.

The American singer-and-actress will appear in a single-camera comedy called Us and Them on ABC, after the network agreed to air a pilot episode.

Mandy will star in the programme which explores the conflict between families.

It is told from the perspective of Annie, played by Mandy, and Ben - a young, newlywed couple.

Real Steel director Shawn Levy will helm the comedy, according to Deadline.

Marty Adelstein and Becky Clements will executive produce the project alongside Bob Fisher, who will also write the script. Jon Leshay will produce.

Mandy has recently been busy in feature films.

The star is currently in production on Chris Sparling’s supernatural drama Falling Slowly.

She also voiced the lead of Rapunzel in the Disney animated movie Tangled, with her song, I See The Light, garnering an Oscar nomination.

Mandy’s TV work includes a recurring role on ABC’s medical drama Grey’s Anatomy.

The 27-year-old also featured on episodes of Scrubs, Entourage and How I Met Your Mother.
