Nicki Minaj is being really “selective” with her new album.

The theatrical musician is working on a follow up to her album Pink Friday.

Kane Beatz who worked with the star on smash hit tracks such as I’m the Best and Dear Old Nicki, revealed that the singer is being very precise with her new material.

"She just started, so she's really picking her music and picking the songs. She's real selective," he told Mixtape Daily. "She'll pick all the beats before she even starts writing, so right now, we're just getting music together, and it's going crazy right now."

As well as working with Nicki, Kane has also been busy collaborating with Roscoe Dash and with Rick Ross on his upcoming LP God Forgives, I Don't.

Nicki’s monster hit Super Bass, which was also produced with Kane, went top ten in the chart in countries including the US, England, Australia and Canada.

Kane explained that Nicki is after more chart topping new hits.

However, the album is still in the planning stages so it may be some time until it is released.

"She wants hit records every time and she wants to be creative," he exclaimed. "With Nicki, it's more about getting the music right and leaving her the room to be creative and leaving her room to do her."
