Lynyrd Skynyrd has been forced to postpone or cancel a number of future shows due to the health problems of Johnny Van Zandt.

According to the band's website, Van Zandt was hospitalized over the weekend due to "complications from a previous surgery." Specifically, they stated that he went into Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, MN on Saturday for treatment of "surgical site infected cellulitis" and a severe staff infection, being given an IV antibiotic treatment.

Van Zandt will be off the road until cleared by his primary physician. The group hopes to return for their August 19 appearance with the Doobie Brothers in Bethel, NY.

The affected shows:

Clear Lake, WI at Firefest was August 6, possibly re-scheduled for September 10
Grand Rapids, MI at Rock the Rapids Music Festival on August 8, Skynyrd performance has been cancelled.
Sturgis, SD at Buffalo Chip on August 10, Skynyrd performance has been cancelled; Gregg Allman still scheduled to perform.
Sedalia, MO at Missouri State Fair on August 12, Skynyrd performance has been cancelled; Doobie Brothers still scheduled to perform with Kansas.
Fort Knox, KY at Godman Army Airfield on August 13, Skynyrd performance has been cancelled; Doobie Brothers still scheduled to perform with Kansas.
Des Moines, IA at Iowa State Fair on August 16, Skynyrd performance has been cancelled; Doobie Brothers still scheduled to perform with Kansas.
