Sean Kingston has learnt to be “cautious” in the wake of his jet ski accident.

The 21-year-old was hospitalised following the incident in May. He was badly injured in the accident and spent time in intensive care, with claims at the time that his condition was so severe he might not pull through.

The jet ski he and a woman were on hit a bridge and Sean suffered a broken jaw, fractured wrist and water on the lungs. He had multiple operations while at the medical centre and has previously described his condition as “life or death”.

Sean was finally released from hospital in June and made his first public appearance at the 2011 Teen Choice Awards yesterday.

“Basically, I learned that in life anything can happen and you have to count your blessings and worship God, and believe in God,” he told People at the event. “And know that anything can happen, so you have to be cautious about what you do.”

Sean was greeted with a riotous welcome at the awards ceremony, getting a standing ovation. He also received a warm hug from pal Justin Bieber, who had spoken of how worried he was when news of Sean’s accident spread.

Sean has lost 45lbs. since May and plans to continue dieting. He is also working on new music and is looking forward to seeing what fans think of the tracks.

“I'm feeling good, I'm feeling blessed, 100%,” he said. “I'm happy to back healthy, and I'm going back into the studio tomorrow.”
