In a big day for award nominations announcements (see previous story on the ACM awards), the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS) has announced their nominations for the 2011 Juno Awards.

Neil Young has already been named the honoree of the 2011 Allan Waters Humanitarian Award and can now add two nominations for Junos. He is up for Artist of the Year against Drake, Johnny Reid, Justin Bieber and Sarah McLachlan and Adult Alternative Album of the Year for Le Noise against Black Dub (for Black Dub), Justin Nozuka (You I Wind Land and Sea), Luke Doucet (Steel City Trawler) and Sarah Harmer (Oh Little Fire).

k.d. lang is up for Single of the Year for her rendition of Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah from the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympic Games ceremony. She is up against Oh Canada by Classified, Find Your Love by Drake, Perfect by Hedley and Wavin' Flag by Young Artists for Haiti.

Finally, Rush is up for Music DVD of the Year for Rush: Beyond the Lighted Stage. They will compete against This Movie is Broken by the Broken Social Scene, The Lost Tapes by Buck 65, Céline-Tournée Mondiale Taking Chances Le Spectacle by Celine Dion and The Virtual Haydn by Tom Beghin.
