Tinie Tempah, Jay Sean and Mark Ronson are the latest names announced to perform exclusively at the 2010 MOBO Awards in association with Lebara Mobile held at Liverpool’s Echo Arena on October 20th.
Having exploded on to the UK scene less than a year ago, Tinie Tempah is set to prove just why he is at the top of his game right now with an explosive performance lined up for this year’s show.
The Pass Out superstar has just gained his second number 1 single on the UK charts this week and leads this year’s nominations, battling it out for Best Newcomer, Best UK Act, Best Song and Best Video.
In a year where British ‘MOBO Music’ talent has dominated the number 1 spot in the UK, Jay Sean has made musical history having now reached the top of the US charts. Jay Sean’s Down featuring rap star Lil Wayne, became the seventh best selling song of 2009, selling three million digital copies in the US and a staggering six million copies worldwide, making Jay the most successful British/European male urban artist in US chart history.
This year’s Best UK Act nominee Jay Sean enthuses:
“I'm very excited about this year’s MOBO Awards, an organisation and awards show that has become an iconic part of British urban music and culture. I started off in this scene 8 years ago and had the love and support of the British urban community since the beginning all the way up until now, as an artist signed to Cash Money in America, so it is an honour and a pleasure for me to be nominated and performing at the 2010 MOBO Awards in Liverpool.”
Grammy and Brit Award Winner Mark Ronson, will also take to the stage for a very special surprise performance. Mark Ronson & The Business INTL’s summer smash Bang Bang Bang ft Q-Tip and MNDR is up for Best Video in association with MTV Base and Best Song in association with PRSforMusic.
Ronson is one of the most sought after producers in the industry. Having sold in excess of over one million albums in the UK alone with Version, Ronson has worked with some of the world’s biggest artists including Amy Winehouse, Robbie Williams, Lily Allen and Christina Aguilera to name a few.
Other exciting news for the fast-growing numbers of fans, is the launch of the MOBO iPhone application, the first of its kind in the world. MOBO iPhone shows previously unseen interviews with former winners and rising stars, exclusive discounts as well as a guide to host city Liverpool and more. To get the news, the gossip, the stars and to find where the party’s at – it’s all at the end of an iPhone.
Celebrating its 15th year, the MOBO Awards has helped champion the extraordinary rise of urban music over the past two decades from niche to now leading the UK charts and will celebrate the cream of British artists from the past year at its star-studded televised ceremony at Liverpool’s Echo Arena, on October 20th. Other confirmed performances on the night will include JLS, Professor Green, Alesha Dixon and N-Dubz.
