Kacey Musgraves has hit back at a troll on Twitter who had a less than complimentary remark about her personality.

The 31-year-old musician is hard at work on her The Kacey Musgraves Christmas Show special for Amazon Prime Video, but took some time out from filming to hit back at the hater who launched a personal attack on the star.

"I liked your music but your personality seems s**tty," the Twitter user wrote, after Kacey shared she was overwhelmed working on The Kacey Musgraves Christmas Show.

However, the Slow Burn singer had the last laugh, as she bluntly replied: "It is."

The singer previously revealed she's "out of her comfort zone" working on the project, telling U.S. TV show Today: "In this new Christmas special, I got to explore different areas of things that I've never done before."

Described as "a nostalgic, Wes Anderson-inspired re-imagining of the holidays", The Kacey Musgraves Christmas Show will feature Glittery, a new original duet with Troye Sivan, while Lana Del Rey will deliver her take on winter classic I'll Be Home for Christmas, and Camila Cabello will be Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree.

Actress/singer Zooey Deschanel and R&B star Leon Bridges will also make an appearance during the event, which will be narrated by Schitt's Creek's Dan Levy.

The special debuts on Amazon Prime Video on 29 November.
