Pink is the latest celebrity to support the Duke and Duchess of Sussex amid criticism of the British royal couple's private jet usage.

Prince Harry and his wife Meghan have been accused of hypocrisy after reportedly taking four private jet journeys in 11 days despite their vocal campaigning on environmental issues in a story published in the British media.

Elton John leapt to their defence, explaining he had lent them a private jet to take their baby son Archie on a family trip to his home in the south of France, and had ensured the flight was "carbon neutral".

Pink has now added her voice to Elton and Ellen DeGeneres in defending the couple, tweeting that Meghan's treatment constitutes "bullying".

"I'm happy to see people coming to the defence of The Duke and Duchess of Sussex," the star wrote. "The way people treat her is the most public form of bullying I have seen in a while. It's out of control. Let's all be a bit kinder, huh? Let's show our children that it's cool to be kind."

Elton hit out at stories attacking the couple's holiday at his home near Nice, calling the reports "distorted and malicious" and citing his friendship with Harry's mother, Princess Diana, and the press intrusion before her death in 1997.

Explaining how he and his partner David Furnish organised the trip, he wrote on Instagram: "To maintain a high level of much-needed protection, we provided them with a private jet flight. To support Prince Harry's commitment to the environment, we ensured their flight was carbon neutral, by making the appropriate contribution to Carbon Footprint."

The Rocket Man singer also called on the press to cease their "relentless and untrue assassinations on their character".

Since the couple wed in May 2018, Meghan has faced a barrage of press criticism, which has also angered another of their celebrity friends - actor George Clooney.
