George Michael's former lover Fadi Fawaz is reportedly refusing to vacate the late singer's property, more than two years after his death.

Fadi, 46, has been living at the mews house near Regent's Park, London, since the Wham! singer died of heart disease on Christmas Day 2016. He was found dead at the age of 53 by his lover at another of his homes in Oxfordshire, England.

According to The Sun, Fadi is refusing to leave the London property, and has ignored legal letters from George's family as he believes the late star gave him permission to live there before his death.

"Fadi is being a real pain about all this," a source close to George's family explained. "He has refused to leave despite several letters and requests in the last 18 months. He is blanking them out and it appears he now has squatters rights. It's been going on for such a long time that it's hard to know what to do next. The lawyers are seeing what can be done. It would be a lot easier if Fadi just upped sticks and left."

Editors at the publication obtained pictures of him entering the home with a mystery man.

A neighbour added: "He comes and goes mostly at night. I hardly ever see him during the day."

Despite being given $320,000 (£250,000) and a Range Rover by George's family, Fadi has faced financial difficulties and officials threatened to repossess George's and his possessions from the house over an unpaid $720 (£513) bill.

If the Faith hitmaker's family decide to take legal action over Fadi's presence in his old property, the former hair stylist could face a six-month jail term and a $6,360 (£5,000) fine, as well as eviction, if convicted of squatting.
